The Memphis Story

Kaylin and I were exposed to Memphis during rehearsals at La Jolla Playhouse in 2009. We were immediately captivated by the storyline, music and dancing. We followed the show from La Jolla to Seattle’s Fifth Avenue Theater and over the course of the next 6 months we became more and more enthralled with the show and the actors. When lead Producers and friends, Kenny and Marleen Alhadeff, decided to take it to Broadway we jumped in becoming “above the line” Producers. This means you give them your money, you get your name on the posters, a small write up in the playbill and a Tony Award if the show wins…

Which it did for Best Musical 2010!

The show closed on Broadway August 5, 2012 after playing 1,166 regular performances at The Shubert Theatre. The road show began in October 2011 touring various cities throughout the United States and finished in Florida May 2013. Here is a link to the official website. The next Memphis chapter is at London’s West End featuring Beverley Knight & Killian Donnelly at the Shaftesbury Theatre kicking off October 23, 2014!

We are also working on “Chasing the Song” a new musical from the same team that developed Memphis. This show is scheduled began with a reading in late 2013 and just concluded a very arousing 10 week “page to stage” production at La Jolla Playhouse on June 15 2014. Please let me know if you would like any additional information including an opportunity to participate in the investment round for either upcoming show!
